Macintosh RIP

My 12" Mac G4 Powerbook has been giving trouble recently. The battery died last September, it needed a new power supply in March (the whole case started buzzing!), a few weeks ago the DVD-CD drive stopped reading disks, and this morning I think the hard drive died. It makes a funny buzzing sound and won't boot, anyway.

Looks like replacement time...

Still alive

I feel embarrassed to see that it's been over a year since I last posted here. I am coming to the realisation that maintaining a conventional Dreamweaver-and-FTP site is not much fun. In fact I really only edit my daily diary - which I could replace with this blog, and put up a few photos - which I also do at my Flickr page.

What I need to do is dismantle the current web site into several component parts and distribute those across appropriate web based applications. One day.

In the meantime, web based stuff just keeps arriving. Like YouOS - an OS in a web browser! Inside your OS! With a browser! Why do I think this is a neat idea? It's like postmodernism for computers, and I don't like postmodernism, cultural relativity, witty self-referential computers-within-computers, etc. But it is cool.

And Chumby; Tamagochi with wifi! Just in time for Xmas.

Right, time to go watch Weeds. Bye.
